Abstract
Buildings are the big energy consumer, and the energy efficiency in buildings (EEBs) mainly depends upon the time of operation and the type of components to be operated. The proposed work focuses on the energy efficiency of a commercial building with and without DSM based on yearly energy and environmental data collection. In the proposed framework, the scope of PV generation is explored for a commercial building using PV Syst 7.2.15, and simulation is performed on collecting meteorological data for the solar system. Also, a comprehensive energy efficiency analysis is performed by considering several energy auditing parameters, and the operating constraints have also been identified. Further, a correlation between energy efficiency and the operating constraints, including temperature, number of persons, light intensity, humidity, etc., are developed. Smart counters and energy meters are installed in different building blocks for real-time data on a daily basis. The energy, environmental, and personnel data are used to develop a new framework of hybrid AC-DC microgrid for energy efficiency in commercial buildings with and without DSM. The proposed algorithm is simulated in the MATLAB environment, and the results show a significant difference in energy consumption in both cases. Also, in the proposed approach, it has been observed that there is not only a reduction in energy consumption, but it also reduces the number of energy components.
