Abstract
Ammonia reacts with nitrogen oxides in the exhaust flue gases to produce nitrogen and water
vapours. This reaction occurs inside the catalyst convertor and is very much temperature
dependent. The present work predicts the catalyst temperature profiles different engine startup
conditions. This has been studied theoretically and experimentally and the results have
been compared to draw conclusions.
Further, experiments have been carried out to assess how the ammonia dosing rates at fixed
engine performance parameters impact the conversion efficiency. Finally, ammonia dosing
map has been presented which may be used in catalyst performance tuning.
