Abstract
Nitro aromatic compounds are used worldwide as explosives, pesticides, and as precursors for the manufacture of many products, including dyes, pharmaceuticals, and plastics. They are well known as toxins; some are mutagenic and/or carcinogenic. Because they are widely used, nitro aromatics have become serious environmental contaminants, stimulating considerable research over the years into both their fate in soil and water systems and their catabolism by pure microbial cultures. Among all Nitroaromatic compounds Trinitrotoluene(TNT) and Dinitrotoluene(DNT) are major pollutants. In the present study, Physical, Chemical and Biological characterization of given Soil and wastewater samples from nitroaromatics contaminated sites were carried out. Then HPLC analysis of wastewater samples from nitroaromatics contaminated sites was done. Moreover Isolation and identification of bacteria from soil samples contaminated with nitroaromatic compounds and Potential of the isolated culture on various optimized conditions was performed. And most importantly Bioremediation of TNT contaminated water samples(Laboratory prepared) with the help of the isolated bacterial culture from soil samples and Evaluating Bioremediation Potential of isolated microbe for treating TNT contaminated water samples of different concentration, through HPLC took place. Lastly isolated microbial culture growth pattern was also analyzed. Complete degradation of TNT was seen under aerobic conditions within 24hrs by using the isolated strain for bioremediation.
