| dc.description.abstract | This thesis work is related to the field of advanced networking. In this project work first I have tried to fix up the problem which involves very exhaustive study and observation of Lan. I found that as network size is growing day by day broadcast traffic control is the problem and there is need of dynamic Vlan configuration. It took sufficient time for me to come to conclusion that what type of design is required so that robust communication will be maintained and broadcast will be reduced. For that I studied different types of Vlans and therefore designing part is important and covers first part of this project and second part is of protocol software to implement it.As wide area networks and internet growing day by day then it becomes difficult to mango the networks, as well there is addition of new nodes, deletion of nodes and a traveling person removes node & connects it at other place, also from deptt. To deptt. There is frequent shifting of nodes. Every time the Ip address of node changes then net manager has to give a new Ip number to that shifted node, port number on which the node can be connected and Ip network address. This reconfiguration is a tedious and time consuming job and gives rise to error creation. I found a dynamic virtual Ian (Vlan) is formation of logical group on network & depending on type of internet traffic, type of protocol, user requirement & server access patterns, like all nodes accessing the same primary server would be placed in the same virtual lan. In case of dynamic Vlan configuration and net management is carried out automatically. This work by me includes identification of these problems, designing of dynamic Virtual Lans which includes identification of requirement of Vlan agent and Vlan manager as part of Vlan management software modules, designing & implementation of protocol schemes, designing of protocol message formats, data structures required, and testing methodology required. | en |
