Ontology is a shared and common understanding of some domain that can be communicated between people and application systems. Ontological commitments are agreements to use the shared vocabulary in a coherent and consistent manner. It defines the vocabulary with which queries and assertions are exchanged among domains. Ontologies have been widely accepted as the primary method of representing knowledge in the Semantic Web. A number of ontology development tools like Protégé-2000, OiLed, Apollo, Ontosaurus, OntoStudio etc. are available for knowledge elicitation in the fulfillment of dream of new web i.e. Semantic Web. In this thesis the intent is to analyze the features provided by various tools by implementing the common ontology among all the ontology development tools. Different parameters used to measure the effectiveness of a tool include hierarchical view, GUI support, plug-ins interoperability with other tool, user friendliness, consistency check, etc. The final analysis has been depicted via a bar graph.en
