Improvement in Edge Detection Techniqueen
Sobel which is a popular edge detection method uses the derivative approximation to find edges. Therefore, it returns edges at those points where the gradient of the considered image is maximum. The edges determined by classic Sobel edge detector are thick. Then edge thinning technique is used to improve the results. The comparative experiment results show that the new edge detection technique for digital images is very effective. The results are also better than the classic Sobel edge detection method.en
