Abstract

The objective of the present study is to investigate and compare the effect of joint geometry on strength of pin loaded with two different nano particles which are nanoclay and nanoTiO2 filled glass epoxy composite laminates after optimizing the weight percent of nano particles experimentally and numerically. Mechanical Properties of the composite material are obtained using ASTM Standards whereas numerical study is performed by means of ANSYS finite element analysis program. Laminates were prepared using hand layup technique at 150 0C. Single hole pin loaded specimens were tested for their tensile strength and the distance from the free edge of specimen to the diameter of the first hole (E/D) ratio, width of the specimen to the diameter of the holes (W/D) ratio evaluated. The influence of the joint geometry parameters on the strength of the pin loaded composites was investigated.
