dc.description.abstractThe organization of eukaryotic DNA is highly complex and it includes sequences such as of exons, introns, 3’UTR, 5’UTR, promoter and intergenic. From the above sequences the exons are coding sequences and rest all the non-coding sequences. Coding sequences are unique sequences and do not contain any repetitive sequences, while non-coding sequences contain mostly repetitive DNA sequences. Therefore the compressibility of exons can be less as compare to other non- coding sequences. We calculated percentage compression ratio for analysing the compressibility of different sequences. We analysed PCR means with two sample t-test, ANOVA and Tukey’s test. So we have found a novel tool with the help of which we can measure the information content of DNA sequence. Low Compressibility of coding DNA when compared to non-coding DNA is just a beginning to show the application of information theory in genomics.en_US
