Abstract
The use of nano composites are rapidly growing in various fields for different applications like construction, electronic, automobiles etc. the nano composites pose unique size dependent material properties. The various types of nano composites with different sizes and shapes such as particulate, fibrous, layered etc. The nano composites are good alternatives for conventional composites. The problem of selection of nano composite materials has been a concern to users for recent years. This problem has become more difficult due to complexity of nano composites. The objective of this research is to maintain reliable database based on their different pertinent attributes. This database can be used for nano composite selection procedure when user has decided to use the nano composite material for some purpose. This will help the user to save time. The selection procedure proceeds to rank the alternatives in the shortlist by employing different attributes based specification methods and graphical methods. This ranking will provide a good guidance for users to select a material. A three stage selection procedure is used for identification of pertinent attributes and ranking is done with TOPSIS and graphical methods (Line graph and Spider Diagram. This study also presents methodology for calculating the permanent function and numerical index of nano composite system by dividing nano composite system into four subsystems and interactions between subsystems are represented into matrix form. This study provides a general formula which can be applied to any nano composite product system.
