Most of the software engineering concepts that one studies are written in the context of Closed Source Softwares (CSS) development and not in the context of Open Source Software (OSS) development. So we strongly believe that there should be a study to improve the quality of OSS because they save a lot of money of the end users. A report by the Standish Group states that adoption of open-source software models has resulted in savings of about $60 billion per year to consumers. So, with this thought this thesis studies the various aspects and facts of open source software developments. The main objective of this thesis is to find out the gaps in the current open source software development process. This thesis also implements a way to cover those gaps. And hence provides a framework to develop better open source softwares in future.en
