Abstract
This dissertation deals with the Synthesis and Characterization of AB2O4
magnetic nanoparticles where A and B are defined as A=Fe, Mn, Ni; B=Fe. The
magnetic nanoparticles were prepared by the chemical co-precipitation
technique. Magnetic nanoparticles of Fe3O4, MnFe2O4, NiFe2O4 were
characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), UV-visible spectroscopy,
Transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and Dynamic light scattering
(DLS).The synthesized magnetic nanoparticles of Fe3O4, MnFe2O4 and NiFe2O4
have the cubic inverse spinel structure. The average crystallite size of Fe3O4,
MnFe2O4, NiFe2O4 nanoparticles were 8.40 nm, 9.60 nm and 8.25 nm,
respectively. The morphological study from TEM microscopy revealed that the
Fe3O4 nanoparticles are polydisperse in nature with near spherical morphology.
The band gap values were calculated from UV-visible spectral analysis.
Hydrodynamic size and its distribution were determined by DLS. The
Hydrodynamic size of Fe3O4, MnFe2O4, NiFe2O4 nanoparticles were 23.5 nm,
22.0 nm and 21.4 nm, respectively and the polydispersity indices are
0.036,0.065 and 0.133, respectively.
