Abstract
Marriage and marital satisfaction are major two aspects of individual life. There are
many factors that contribute towards marital satisfaction. In the present study
relationship between Emotional intelligence, Emotional maturity, Personality traits
and Marital satisfaction was studied. The tools used in the study were Enrich Marital
Satisfaction Scale, Rusbult Commitment Scale, Schutte Self Report Emotional
Intelligence test, Big five inventory (BFI-2) and Yashvir Singh & Bhargava‟s
Emotional Maturity Scale (EMS). The sample consisted of 50 married males and 50
married females. Data was analysed using descriptive statistics, t test, correlation and
regression analysis. The results revealed higher the commitment towards the marital
life is associated with the marital satisfaction. Significant correlation has been found
between commitment and marital satisfaction (r = .35, p<0.01). Emotional intelligence
did not show any significant relation with marital satisfaction. Years of marriage and
age have significant impact on marital satisfaction. Different dimensions of
personality has found relationship with commitment towards marriage.
