Abstract: | There has been a great interest in designing and implementation of Relational database for about last decades due to its simple data structures and its numerous advantages over other systems and hence a need for relational database design deserves due consideration . One of the facets of developing a database is Normalization . In this report , an attempt has made to discuss the normalization technique that are needed in creating relational database . Algorithm have been implemented to obtain third normal form relation from a set of functional dependences using SYNTHESIS approach , also option has been provided to Decompose a set of relation scheme in to Fourth normal form w.r.t. to a set of functional dependency and multi-valued dependences. The relation schemes developed by precluding the undesirable properties like various anomalies ( updation , insertion , deletion ) redundancy and inconsistency needs a way for storing the data , to become useful. In this dissertation as attempt has been made to develop a dynamically changing interactive program for data entry aspect of normalization .It has an advantage that a single program is sufficient to store data that should be capable of being manipulated and operated upon for different relation schemes generated by SYNTHESIS approach or otherwise , to make a database . |
