Abstract: | In this Thesis work, an attempt has been made for the design of a rule-based expert system for load allocation in the expansion planning of a distribution system. Generalised algorithm is developed for obtaining the location of substation based on minimum loss criteria. Algorithm aimed at minimizing power loss, is developed to reach proper load allocation plans. The expert system using the developed algorithms and knowledge base is applied to reallocate some loads in a distribution system. The proposed method can handle all the heuristic rules. The load flow and branch conductor optimization techniques are used as subroutine in the generalized distribution planning algorithm. Using example of 71-node radial distribution networks, the critical values of real power losses and reactive power losses are derived out for the sub-station voltage of 1.0 (p.u.). The proposed method will reduce the real and reactive power losses. Several problems have been successfully tested using the proposed algorithm and results are highly satisfactory. |
