Abstract: Polyvinylidene fluoride is a semi crystalline polymer having excellent ferroelectric, piezoelectric and pyroelectric properties. PVDF have useful properties which results in number of applications i.e. it is very useful in energy harvesting devices, memory storage devices, sensors, transducers, biomedical sciences etc. In this thesis, the detailed review of the properties of PVDF has been presented. These properties include ferroelectric, dielectric, piezoelectric, pyroelectric and other properties. Some applications of PVDF are also presented in this thesis. The synthesis method for the formation of PVDF films and nanoparticles is also discussed in this thesis. This thesis deals with the changes in the properties of composites of PVDF when PVDF is combined with magnetic nanocomposites, semiconductor oxides nanocomposites and ferroelectric ceramics. The addition of nanofillers, nanocomposites or ceramics changes the ferroelectric, magnetic, dielectric and optical properties of the composites. The literature review of PVDF with magnetic nanocomposites, PVDF with semiconductor oxides nanocomposites and PVDF with ferroelectric ceramics is also presented in this thesis.
