Abstract: | After, the latest addition to the periodic table the heaviest i.e. Z=118, Oganesson (Og) which was formally named on 28 November 2016, a rush has been started in the search of next stable island and towards the synthesis of superheavy element Z=120. Many experimental and theoretical approaches are being performed in hot and cold fusion approaches, in order to have better understanding regarding the stability of the completely fused compound nuclear system. For the elements Z>113, hot fusion approach is mostly preferred as they demand more asymmetric combinations and hence sustain fusion cross-sections, which are here calculated using the Wong formula for the four most suitable combinations, predicted till now. The fusion cross-sections of chosen reactions are calculated with quadrupole (β2) deformations and hot-optimized orientations. Also, using fragmentation potentials, we have tried to find some new combinations for Z=120. |
